The soundtrack of the ’90s meets the power and elegance of live strings! Join the Highline String Quartet for an unforgettable performance that reimagines the rhythm, attitude, and nostalgia of ’90s hip-hop through the rich sound of a professional string ensemble. Whether you grew up with the music or are discovering it for the first time, this one-of-a-kind concert will have you hearing a legendary era in a completely new way.

This program launches The Silent Stage Series, an immersive headphone performance experience from the Jersey City Free Public Library. Guests will hear the quartet through wireless headphones, bringing every beat, harmony, and movement of the strings directly to their ears. It is an intimate, high-quality listening experience that combines the connection of a live concert with the clarity of your own personal soundtrack.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Highline String Quartet is a project of the Highline Chamber Ensemble, a group of passionate musicians known for presenting performances in nontraditional concert spaces, including lofts, art galleries, and studios. Highline has regularly performed at celebrated New York City venues including Joe’s Pub, SubCulture, and the Manderley Bar at Sleep No More.

Inspired by New York City’s High Line Park, the ensemble represents the meeting of cultural preservation and contemporary society. Its extensive network includes accomplished musicians with backgrounds from institutions such as Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, Juilliard, and the Manhattan School of Music.
